North American Clean Energy — 24-Story Phoenix Building Wins BOMA Award for 98 Energy Star Score April 12th 2018
The BOMA Green Building Committee Kilowatt Krackdown was recently awarded to 3200 N. Central Avenue – a retrocommissioned, 24 stories, 345,000 SF building in Phoenix AZ built in 1986 – for achieving the highest Energy Star score of 98 in the competition.
.Tim Rose, Executive VP of DPC companies commented on the need for SMARTPneumatics technology. “Prior to the retrocommission, our heating and cooling expenses for the existing building were substantially higher what we felt they should be running for a building of this size and age. That, combined with numerous tenant complaints about cooling issues throughout the year, and the resulting tenant comfort work order requests made it clear to us that we needed to improve the building’s HVAC. We are very pleased with the upgrade and most importantly, our tenants couldn’t be more satisfied. The new controls were solely responsible for reducing the tenant cooling requests from an average 25 – 30 calls per day when we purchased the building to approximately 3 to 5 per week.”

24-Story Energy Efficient Retrofit in Phoenix Achieves Energy Star Score of 98 March 27th 2018
In the words of Harry Sim, CEO of Cypress Envirosystems: "Buildings with old-style pneumatic thermostats have no data or visibility, which means it's harder to maintain a building and it will underperform. When customers like DPC use SMARTPneumatics, they gain the visibility needed to achieve top Energy Star ratings and maintain that performance over time."

Energy Manager Magazine – HSC Winnipeg expands its wireless pneumatic thermostat system June 30th 2017
For both patient comfort and energy conservation, Cypress Envirosystems reports a total of 1625 wireless pneumatic thermostats (WPTs) have been installed at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, controlling 780,000 sf throughout 12 buildings, including:
the General, Children’s and Rehabilitation hospitals, maintenance building, and a multi-purpose office building. The WPT system continues to expand to other buildings from its initial installation in 2010, and is being integrated with the Honeywell EBI Energy Management System.
“We’ve been using the [WPT] system for over six years. It gives us [direct digital control]-like visibility at the room level throughout our buildings with pneumatic control, and it increases our ability to ensure patients and staff are comfortable,” said Manny Bettencourt with HSC Maintenance Services.

Memoori Smart Building Research – Some Building Systems Are Born Smart, Others Have Smartness Thrust Upon Them April 27th 2017
“Some building systems are born smart, some achieve smartness and some have smartness thrust upon them,” Shakespeare might have said if he were a 21st century mechanical engineer or facility manager working in Chicago. Taking center-stage in the ambitious Midwest city is a smart building retrofit worthy of applause.
Completed in 1990, 311 South Wacker Drive is an iconic post-modern 65-story skyscraper. At 961 feet tall, it is the seventh tallest building in Chicago and the 21st tallest in the US. Its heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems (HVAC), however, were less impressive until the building’s owners, Zeller Realty Group, found an innovative way to drag the outdated building into the smart world.
